Director of Performance Marketing (Growth Strategy & Paid Media)

The Head of Results is the guardian of client ROI.

This Director of Performance Marketing role at Intrigue is responsible for owning paid media, conversion systems, and growth strategy across our client base.

At Intrigue, we have the data, the niche (landscape entrepreneurs across North America), and the vision. We need the Architect to help us continue to build the engine. You aren’t just managing ads, you are defining how an entire industry wins online.

You own the performance of our paid media and conversion ecosystem. You translate data into direction, direction into systems, and systems into consistent client growth. You are the strategic partner to our COO and the bridge between paid media execution, website performance (CRO), content strategy, and client outcomes.

Your success is measured by one thing: Are our clients growing?

You don’t need to be a master of everything on day one, but you do need to be a master of learning.

Key Responsibilities & Priorities

Strategic Leadership & Data Synthesis
Dive deep into our Landscape Marketing Index (LMI) in Datorama, to extract insights and build reporting systems that make data-driven decision-making simple, clear, and actionable for the leadership team.

Paid Ads & Meta Playbook
Own Google Ads performance. Architect and standardize a world-class Meta Ads Playbook for landscaping businesses, turning social platforms into predictable lead-generation systems.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
Work cross-functionally with web designers & developers to improve landing page performance and overall conversion rates.

The SEO-Paid Bridge
Collaborate with the Organic Traffic & SEO teams to ensure paid strategies are strengthened by organic insights.

Team Mentorship
Support and elevate the Paid Ads team by providing the systems, guidance, and accountability they need to consistently hit performance targets.

Automation & Innovation
Identify and implement AI and automation opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.

OKRs & Success Metrics

You will be responsible for ensuring paid advertising campaigns consistently achieve or exceed client performance goals through world-class strategy and systematic execution.

  • Ensure client retention by keeping campaigns consistently hitting and exceeding growth targets
  • 95%+ of paid advertising clients are on track or surpassing their defined MAP (Market Action Plan) goals
  • Successful implementation of a data-driven reporting dashboard used weekly by the leadership team to drive 100% data transparency
  • Completion and rollout of the standardized Intrigue Meta Ads Playbook, resulting in a measurable decrease in CPL across the landscaping niche

  • 40% Strategy & Architecture: Building the Meta Playbook, LMI dashboards, and CRO recommendations
  • 25% Analysis & Reporting: Deep dives into campaign data and supporting the COO with performance insights
  • 20% Team Support & Collaboration: Mentoring the Paid Ads team and collaborating with Web/Content departments
  • 15% Innovation & Research: Staying ahead of North American lead gen trends and identifying new opportunities

Success Abilities & Competencies

Mandatory Qualifications (Experience & Proven Results)

  • 5–8+ years in performance marketing with clear ownership of strategy and outcomes (not just campaign execution)
  • Demonstrated success managing and optimizing meaningful ad spend ($500K+ annually across accounts or channels)
  • Proven track record of improving key performance metrics, including:
    • Decreasing Cost Per Lead (CPL)
    • Increasing Conversion Rates (CVR) through landing page or funnel improvements
    • Improving ROAS through strategic changes (not just increasing budget)
  • Experience working with lead generation businesses (home services preferred)
  • Proven ability to build or significantly improve reporting systems or dashboards used to guide decision-making (e.g., Datorama, Looker, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience identifying and implementing conversion rate optimization (CRO) opportunities

  • How you’ve built or improved systems, playbooks, or processes (not just managed campaigns)
  • Experience managing multiple accounts or complex performance environments with accountability for results

  • Experience making decisions without full clarity and taking ownership of the results
