The 5-Minute System to Get More 5-Star Reviews

Because asking once isn’t enough, the fortune is in the follow-up.

You do great work. Customers love you. But when it comes to actually getting reviews, most landscaping businesses fall short.

Here’s the truth: one ask won’t cut it. People are busy, distracted, and leaving you a review isn’t at the top of their to-do list.

That doesn’t mean they don’t want to help you. They just need a little reminder. That’s where this 5-minute system comes in. Copy it, paste it, and watch your Google reviews multiply.

Day 1: The First Ask

Timing matters. Right after you finish a job is when your customer’s excitement is at its peak. That’s the moment to ask.

📲 First Ask Script:

“Hey [First Name], quick favour. Can you drop a short Google review about your experience? Takes 2 mins. Here’s the link: [Insert Link]. Appreciate it!”

Pro tip: Texts get 6x more replies than emails.

Day 2: The Gentle Reminder

Life gets in the way. Even the happiest customers forget. That’s why the reminder is where the magic happens.

📲 Gentle Reminder Script:

“Hi [First Name], just checking in.

Did you get a chance to leave a quick review? Here’s the link again: [Insert Link]. Thanks so much!”

Day 5: The Final Nudge

Still nothing? No problem. End on a human note. Helpful, not pushy.

📲 Final Nudge Script:

“Hi [First Name], I totally get that things get busy. I just wanted to share the link in case you’d still like to leave a review. It really helps. [Insert Link].”

Bonus: The Screenshot Strategy

This one is simple but powerful. Send them a screenshot of another client’s review and say:

“Here’s what another client shared. Something like this would mean the world to us if you had time!”

That’s social proof at work. It lowers the barrier for your customer to write their own review.

Make It Easy for Them

Most people want to help you. They just don’t know what to say. Give them simple prompts:

  • Why did you choose us?

  • What was your experience like?

  • Would you recommend us to a friend? Why?

Simple prompts create stronger reviews.

That’s it. Three texts. One bonus tactic. All in under 5 minutes.

This system works again and again.
